The final concert of the XVIII Vinnitsa jazz festival will be spectacular: true jazz diva and famous professional musicians. The concert begins on Sunday at 21.00 and at the end of the festival we will hear incredible solo and percussion trio.
For the closing part of the festival "International Days of Jazz in Vinnytsia" this year talented jazz singer Lisa Henry was invited. She will hit the stage with Oleg Butman Trio by Oleg Butman (drums), Natalia Smirnova (piano), Grigory Zaytsev (bass).
Lisa began singing gospel in hernative Kansas City performing songs of Billie Holiday and Miles Davis. In 1994, a young singer wins International Thelonious Monk Competition for vocal jazz. After winning Lisa Henry was named the International Ambassador of Jazz in Africa. Since then she has not once appeared on stage with the greatest jazz musicians of our time, such as Herbie Hancock, Anita Baker, Kenny Barron, Kenny Garrett, Clark Terry, Roy Hargrove, Kevin Mahogany, Terri Lynne Carrington, Wayne Shorter, Dee Dee Bridgewater and other . Her velvet and tart voice sounds great especially during the golden jazz standards from the repertoire of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn.
Extraordinary family duo of drums and piano - Oleg Butman and Natalya Smirnova - already performed to Vinnytsia jazz festival two years ago. Now we are looking forward to the arrival of Butman trio. The younger brother of the famous Russian saxophonist Igor Butman started playing the drums in the bands known as early as adolescence. In the 90th , he accompanies many American jazz stars during their tours of Russia, and in 2001 organized a quartet, continuing to act in many interesting projects. After meeting in 2007 with a young Moscow pianist Natalia Smirnova, Butman together with her started writing his own music. A colorful and dynamic performance of Oleg Butman Trio, added by Lisa Henry vocals will not leave anyone indifferent.
