Pianist Roman Tulei was born in 1978 in Moldova, but last year he and his trio managed to become a real discovery of the Swiss jazz scene. The first disc of The Roman Tulei Trio, which includes pieces composed by Roman himself, called “Inspiration”.
Talent in composing his own music Roman showed at the early age of 12. After graduating from the Academy of Arts (Department of jazz and pop music) in Chisinau, the youong musician dreamed of studying in a European school of jazz of a nobel name. This dream led him to the Swiss Jazz School in Bern (Switzerland), where a well-known american jazz pianist William Evans became one of his piano teachers. Soon, in 2008, a talented jazzman Roman Tulei formed his own trio, that includes two more graduates of Swiss Jazz School: Lorenz Beyeler, the bassist and Tobias Friedli, the drummer. The mastery of all three members of this trio is on a very high level.
"While creating music I bring my own energy to the outside world" - says Roman Tulei. And it is not just creating new music, but also daring to elegantly improvise, following the spirit of the newly formed melody. That’s why the music played by Roman Tulei Trio causes an emotional effect on the public similar to the poetry. The Roman Tulei Trio gives to a careful listener a soft and gentle, and yet powerful and expressive sound and bunch of sounds, making an amazing harmony of transparency and energy.
